These programs constitute an effective tool for restoring ecosystem processes and population connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assisted connectivity can be achieved by: i) reintroduction to previously extinct locations; ii) reinforcement in populations still extant but at high risk of extinction; and\/or iii) reintroduction in areas contributing to overall connectivity and thus increasing metapopulation stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current status of Dupont&#8217;s lark in Spain aligns with IUCN recommendations for initiating translocations of wild individuals and is considered a high-priority measure applicable at both national and regional levels according to the National Strategy for the Conservation of Steppe Birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the objectives of the LIFE Connect Ricot\u00ed project (LIFE20 NAT\/ES\/000133) is the translocation of individuals. Before the 2023 breeding season, we carried out the first-ever translocation experience for this species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We translocated 6 individuals between two populations in the province of Guadalajara (Spain), approximately 55 km apart, with all necessary permits and authorizations in place. In upcoming publications, we will inform you about how we carried out these actions and all the necessary preparations.
