{"id":2419,"date":"2024-06-14T17:16:48","date_gmt":"2024-06-14T15:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/?p=2419"},"modified":"2024-06-14T17:16:51","modified_gmt":"2024-06-14T15:16:51","slug":"population-viability-analysis-of-translocations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/en\/population-viability-analysis-of-translocations\/","title":{"rendered":"Population viability analysis of translocations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/analisis-ing-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/analisis-ing-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/analisis-ing-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/analisis-ing-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/analisis-ing-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/lifeconnectricoti.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/analisis-ing.png 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For translocations to be successful, it is necessary to capture individuals from previously selected source populations, in the appropriate number and sex ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, before carrying out such translocations, it is necessary to conduct a thorough population viability analysis with the aim of evaluating the potential impact of individual extractions on the source populations and the viability of the recipient populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of the LIFE Connect Ricot\u00ed project, the selected source populations, all located in Guadalajara -Spain- (Anguita, P\u00e1ramos de Molina, and Atienza), have sufficient population sizes to provide the necessary individuals for the translocation program without compromising their survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selection of release sites, located in Guadalajara and Cuenca -Spain- (Embid, Valeria, Pedro Izquierdo), has been based on the following criteria: (1) previous presence of Dupont&#8217;s lark; (2) habitat requirements; (3) connectivity; and (4) logistical and administrative feasibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both source and recipient locations undergo pre- and post-release bird censuses.
