This action consists of the reinforcement or population rescue of Dupont’s Lark subpopulations through the translocation of individuals captured in the wild. The scope of this initiative is limited to the Castilla-La Mancha region and is carried out by the Terrestrial Ecosystems Ecology and Conservation Research Group (TEG-UAM) in collaboration with the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC).

Photograph 1. The destination areas were designated as zones where the species is already extinct, nearly extinct, experiencing extremely negative population trends, and/or critical for connectivity in Castilla-La Mancha.

Thus, for this season, fieldwork focused on Atienza and Torrubia (both in Guadalajara) as source locations, and the captured individuals were translocated to Valeria and Pedro Izquierdo, respectively, both located in the province of Cuenca, serving as destination locations.

Photograph 2. The number of captured individuals was determined based on a population viability study, whose results indicated that reinforcement with a small number of individuals (6 males, 2-4 females) over a period of three years significantly increased the viability of the population in the destination locations without causing negative effects on the source locations.

Photograph 3.
