This technique requires the use of VHF (\u201cvery high frequency\u201d) transmitters, receivers, and antennas\u2014similar to conventional radio systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the LIFE Connect Ricot\u00ed project, birds are equipped with coded VHF transmitters weighing around one gram, which are attached using a thoracic harness by trained personnel. All these areas are located in the Castilla-La Mancha region and have served as either source or destination sites for the translocations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All control individuals have been detected in their original areas (Atienza and Torrubia). Regarding the translocated birds, three individuals have been located in Valeria so far, two of them females. Interestingly, two birds have returned to their original areas from the sites where they were translocated: one from Pedro Izquierdo to Torrubia\u2014approximately 115 kilometers away\u2014translocated this year; and another from Embid to Atienza, translocated last year, covering a distance of 150 kilometers between localities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Radiotracking (or radiotelemetry) is a useful method for monitoring small-sized birds for which GPS-GSM transmitters are not available.
