1–2 July 2026 · Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

After five years of fieldwork, the LIFE Connect Ricotí project will hold its final congress on 1 and 2 July 2026 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Entitled «Conservation, restoration and management of open ecosystems: from habitat to species», the event is designed as a space for debate and the sharing of results around one of the key challenges facing Iberian biodiversity: the conservation of open ecosystems.
A two-day programme
The congress will be structured around four thematic sessions covering the restoration of open habitats, livestock management as a conservation tool, and the population reinforcement of threatened species. The programme will combine plenary sessions, technical presentations, case studies and participatory roundtables, with the aim of fostering the exchange of knowledge and experience among attendees.
The event will bring together representatives from public administrations, researchers and technical staff, and leading conservation organisations, including the Directorate-General for Biodiversity of the MITECO, those responsible for the National Restoration Plan, Rewilding Europe, Fundación Global Nature and IPE-CSIC, as well as other LIFE projects.
Free registration
Attendance is free of charge, though places are limited and prior registration is required. The congress is aimed at researchers, technical staff, public administration representatives, non-governmental organisations and anyone with an interest in the conservation and restoration of open ecosystems.
